ArtSparks program
The ArtSparks powered by FirstOntario program provides all children in Milton in Grades 1 to 8 an opportunity to attend and experience a performance at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton, free of charge. This program removes the socioeconomic barriers that often surround the arts.
In-person programming
Bring your class to the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton for an art workshop. Our school workshops will expand critical and creative thinking and are tailored to meet curriculum requirements at each grade level.
Book a school workshop
We welcome elementary school classes, community groups, and organizations.
If you are interested in booking a school workshop please fill out the School Workshop Reservation Form.
Once you complete the School Workshop Reservation Form a representative from the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton will contact you to confirm your booking request, attendance number, and any accessibility needs.
Changes to a school workshop can be made up to two weeks prior using the School Workshop Reservation Update Form.
Workshop fees
Our school workshop fees include participant registration and all necessary materials and art supplies. Adults attend our workshop free of charge. Our recommendation ratio of adults to students is 1:10.

An invoice will be sent to you with payment information. Once the invoice is generated no changes can be made to the reservation. Full payment is payable prior to the workshop. FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton has the right to refuse admission if invoice has not been paid in full prior to the workshop.
Transportation isn’t included and must be arranged by the school.

Constellation Watercolour Paintings
The Constellation Watercolour Paintings workshop is for students in Grades 6 to 8. Students will expand their understanding of the solar system and how bodies in space affect us. They will get to design and create their own constellation watercolour painting.

Clay Motivated by Living Things - premium workshop
The Clay Motivated by Living Things workshop is a premium workshop for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6. Students will deepen their connection to our region. They will learn how to create clay pieces inspired by plants and animals found in the surrounding environment, such as birds, flowers and more!

Ted Harrison Watercolour and Collage
The Ted Harrison Watercolour and Collage workshop is for students in Grades 1 to 8. In this class, students will explore a variety of geologic regions in Canada through the use of collage and watercolour. They will create art that is inspired by the work of Ted Harrison by making colourful landscapes.

Ancient Egyptian Self-Portrait
This ancient Egyptian self-portrait workshop is for students in Grades 4 and up. Students will create a self-portrait inspired by the famous rulers of Ancient Egypt while gaining an understanding of their unique artistic style.

Ancient Architecture Inspired Clay - premium workshop
The Ancient Architecture Inspired Clay workshop is a premium workshop for students in Grades 4 and up. Students will consider how architecture relied on social organization and government structures in early societies. They will create a clay form inspired by ancient Mayan, Egyptian or Greek history.

Andy Warhol Media Printmaking - premium workshop
The Andy Warhol Media Printmaking workshop is a premium workshop for students in Grades 3 to 8. In this workshop, students will reflect on the work of Andy Warhol and his use of imagery in media. They will create individual Warhol like prints using current cultural references.

James Rizzi Oil Resist Drawings
The James Rizzi Oil Resist Drawings workshop is for students in Grades 1 to 8. They will use pop artist James Rizzi's light-hearted portrayal of his Brooklyn New York neighbourhood of tall buildings and busy streets while reflecting on the world around them. Students will create individual drawings that find "colour" and "humour" in life.
