Virtual community quilt
Quilts have served many diverse purposes: to keep warm, to decorate homes, to express political views, to remember a loved one and, especially, to tell stories and the cultural history of a particular place and time.
The community is invited to tell their own stories through art while working collaboratively to create the Community Quilt virtual exhibition. Based on the theme Connected ApART the community can submit artwork, poems, soundtracks, or videos that will be used to create squares in an interactive online quilt.
As unique squares from across Milton come together to collaboratively create a complete piece, it serves as a metaphor as one unified community, connected while apart. Visitors to the Community Quilt virtual exhibition can click on each square to learn more about the art piece and contributor, discovering shared experiences and learning more about our diverse community.
